Williams will utilize Mercedes motors until 2025 at least in Formula 1.
The team have signed a new arrangement for the following five years.
Because finishing third in 2014 and 2015 williams have diminished in shape, their initial two seasons with Mercedes later turbo-hybrid engines came into F1.
They are on track this season and finished in 2018, but they hope a technical department restructure will reestablish fortunes.
Williams deputy team leader Claire Williams said:”Mercedes has been among the sport’s most prosperous engine providers and we think they will continue to have a very competitive engine package going forwards.
”Over our time with them they’ve come to be a real friend of the team.”
New rules planned for 2021 are targeted at making the grid more competitive. A budget cap has been agreed, although technical rules to permit closer racing are being finalised before teams to agreeing somewhat revenue break, and the bosses of the sport move on.
”Williams is one of those iconic brands in F1,” said Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff.
”They have been through some tough times lately but that has just served to demonstrate their resilience and strength of personality as they struggle right back to where they belong to the grid.
”I’m certain that the outlook for separate teams is bright under the regulations that will be introduced from 2021 and we are delighted to continue our partnership Williams to that new age of our sport.”
The inferior performance has hit the group . This weekthey published a loss of 16.8m for the first six months of the calendar year, which has been attributed to decreased prize money along with the reduction of some sponsorship income.
Chief executive Mike O’Driscoll said:”Although we continue to face challenges in a very busy environment, we consider the vast majority of the impact on EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation] for the full year has been captured in these interim outcomes.
”We continue to think we are well positioned to react to the challenges with world-class facilities plus a robust and talented organisation.”
Williams have a contract to last into next year.
They still haven’t decided on a second driver, together with incumbent Robert Kubica and reserve driver Nicolas Latifi both in with a prospect of the seat.
